The Kingman Spyder E-99 is a fast, durable gun that can be upgraded and modified as needed to increase its performance. The Spyder E-99 performs well out in the field and can hold its own in tournament paintball games, but not at the expense of your pocketbook with a cost of about $140-160.

The Spyder E-99 has an electronic trigger frame with multiple modes; semi automatic, three round, six round and full auto. A double triggered paintball marker, it is equipped with a low pressure chamber and an expansion chamber in the fore grip. The Spyder E-99 has a vertical feed and an anti-double feed mechanism. It operates on a 9.6 volt battery, comes with a charger, and is available in either black or blue.

The Spyder E-99 is a fast gun, however its speed can be an issue unless you modify the gun after purchase. You run the risk of ending up with a lot of chopped balls due to this marker’s speed, so to prevent this from happening, you will need to upgrade your hopper in order to keep up.

This Spyder also tends to chop balls due to spikes of air pressure, so you may also need to use compressed air or a regulator. Cheap paintballs are inclined to break when used with the Spyder E-99 as it tends to be rather selective when it comes to the paintballs you use.

This marker is fairly accurate, however, you can always do better by upgrading to another barrel and by using another bolt, which will also quiet the gun down a bit.

Taking care of your marker is an essential aspect of owning any paintball gun, and this should hold true for your Spyder E-99. The Spyder E-99 has to be well maintained, clean and should always be well oiled since the internal parts of this marker are very likely to be scratched. The Spyder E-99 is relatively easy to field strip so cleaning it should be quick and easy.

When used right out of the box, the Spyder E-99 will give you only mediocre  performance. In order to get optimal performance from this gun, you will need to invest in some upgrades. You will need to replace the hopper with a 12 volt electro hopper to prevent chopping, and replace the barrel and the bolt to improve its accuracy. To improve the gun’s consistency, try using compressed air instead of CO2 and purchasing a regulator for this marker.

Speedball Or Woods Ball

You must first define your playing field before you can properly rate a paintball marker, and if you have played both speedball and woods ball, you will understand that while some paintball markers are a good fit for speedball, they definitely don`t make the cut for woods ball. For example, if you are playing speedball, a clean tight field with ample artificial structures, you will need a marker that is light weight, relatively short in length, and can handle a high rate of fire. For this game, paintball markers such as the Intimidator, the Spyder, or the Ego (e.g. the Tippmann Triumph) will do quite nicely.

Woods ball, on the other hand is set in a field rich with rocks, trees, wet ditches and patches of open field, and will require a marker that fires accurately over reasonably long distances and can handle the punishment of being dropped and neglected, as well as covered mud. You will want to invest in a Tippmann A5 or X7 with a flatline barrel for range, and a response trigger for higher rates of fire, or H.E. E-Grip if you plan on never crawling through the mud.

Reliability

The best paintball gun, capable of handling any form of abuse, is the Sheridan VM-68. It may be old but it sure is reliable, and it has a unique mechanism which never breaks. The Tippman with a Flatline, or automag with a ceramic Taso barrel, in my opinion, is one amazing sniper paintball gun. There is nothing worse than having to clean paint from a barrel in the middle of a fire fight. The old automag design with a twist and lock barrel was the best paintball gun with only 5 seconds to switch the barrel, and the old auto cocker design worked well too, with enough brute force to shoot the paint out.

Look, Feel And Weight

My personal preference would be the second best paintball gun. In a nutshell, that reliable but ugly and heavy metal marker will kick any light-weight piece of junk any day and is what you should be going for. After all, the idea is to use the marker, not display it on a stand. A good marker should have scratches and dings, and be covered in dried, crusty paint, and that’s how you tell a player from a poser!
